We now know that Sega is working on a version of the upcoming Sonic Generations for the Nintendo 3DS. This game is a meld of both classic and new gameplay elements that is planned for console release on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Sega had said that the 3DS version of the game would probably be different than its console brethren and now we know how.
While showing the game off at E3 this week game producer Takashi Iizuka talked about the differences between the console and handheld versions of the game. With the exception of Green Hill Zone all of the levels in Sonic Generations for the Nintendo 3DS will be exclusive to that platform. Many of the levels will be ones that were featured in other portable versions of Sonic over the years, which is something that neither the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions will include.
So, if you’re something that’s looking for the complete Sonic Generations experience you’re going to have to pick up the game for consoles and the handheld.
